The CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) is perfect course for workers in the building and construction industry who want to progress their careers to become registered builders, project managers, Site foreman’s and more. This course is the gate way to your opportunity to work on commercial to low-rise construction projects.

Our course is now running in both Perth Metro region and Bunbury South West region.

This course will teach you how to:

  • Apply knowledge of structural principles
  • Risk and financial management
  • Estimating, preparing and administering building and construction contracts
  • Selecting contractors
  • Overseeing the work and its quality and managing construction work in building projects
  • This includes residential and commercial with the following limitations:
  • Residential construction limited to NCC Class 1 and 10 buildings to a maximum of 3 storeys
  • Commercial construction limited to NCC Class 2 to 9 buildings, Type C and B construction

Duration:
16 Months (Face to Face)

Course Fees:
Non-concessions: $1,200**
Concession: $400**

*For concession students and youth (15-25), the maximum course fee for undertaking a targeted fee relief course in 2023 is capped at $400 per annum

Entry Requirements:

  • You must have left school.
  • You must have permanent place of residence in Western Australia.
  • You must be an Australian Citizen.
  • a permanent visa holder or holder of visa subclass 309, 444, 785, 790, 820 or 826;
  • a dependent or spouse of the primary holder of a visa subclass 457; or
  • a Bridging Visa E holder (subclasses 050 and 051) and you have made a valid application for a visa of subclass 785 or 790.
  • Student must not have an active Apprenticeship or Traineeship registered under WAAMS.
  • Must identify as an existing worker*

*An individual working 20 hours or more under a single employer. This includes self-employed.

Course Delivery Options:

  • You are required to attend 4 classroom days – Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (8:30am – 4:30pm) once a month for 16 months.
  • All course material is supplied through to you; however you are required to have your own laptop/tablet.
  • You will have a dedicated training admissions officer to provide one-on-one review and assessment support during face to face sessions

Completion

After successful completion of all assessments requirements, you will be issued with the qualification CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Constructions (Building) from Master Builders Association of WA (RTO 5101).

Can I register for the course on a Part-time basis?

We can tailor our training plans to meet your needs, although there may still be the requirement to attend a full day Thursday or Friday class once in a while in order to complete full practical assessments.

If I don't have the experience, will I be able to enroll & also gain anything from taking this course?

Although the course does not have any pre-requisites, Master Builders WA require our students to have 5 years relevant work experience within the construction industry and be currently employed within the industry as there is a need for supervisor observations and sign off of tasks.

Is this course available online?

All our course delivery is face to face.

Am I able to complete the course without having to do the assessments?

Yes, this is called recognised prior learning (RPL) which is a process that assesses your competency—acquired through formal and informal learning—to determine if you meet the requirements of the course.

I live in a regional town. Will it be able to enroll in the course without having to travel for classes?

MBAWA are always considering running courses in the regional areas, we suggest you Express an interest for your area, as we may be starting delivery in your town soon.

I work full-time and I want to enroll. Can I complete the course and assessments at my own pace?

We do offer a self-paced learning, however as the course is Diploma level, we only offer this to students with sufficient experience within the building and construction industry that we feel would be able to manage to self-paced delivery.

This course is long. Are there alternative options that are shorter?

MBAWA can deliver individual units of competency from the Diploma and we run many different short accredited and non-accredited courses to meet the needs of the building and construction industry. Chat with a staff member regarding your specific learning goals.
